Many of Alomar's teammates over the years, from the Padres to his current team, the New York Mets, have commented about how dedicated he is to the game. "He said he is married to baseball and I didn't understand what that meant until I played with the guy," Vizquel once commented to
Baseball Digest reporter T. J. Quinn. "Every day he pointed out to me something I didn't know or something I didn't see." As Alomar explains it, he brings the same attitude to baseball that he did to his Catholic school in Puerto Rico as a child. "It's like how you go to school and you study and get good grades," he told Quinn. "That's how I study baseball."
